Jon Stewart Is Gone From The Daily Show, I Wish I Had Known Him Better

I have to say I as never a bog fan of Jon Stewart. His show never captured my attention but I tuned in a few times and found many of his bits funny.  Everyone got their fair share of slams. Jon was the Dirty Harry of news, he hated everybody and shot anyone who deserved it. That’s not to say I agreed with everything he said, but I do like that he was an equal opportunity comedian.

Jon reminded me of some of the guys I knew in Highs School. They were funny, irreverent, and poked a finger in the eye of the status quo. Some of those guys I became really good friends with and others I never had the chance. Maybe I was too awkward or conservative or argumentative to start the conversation or maybe my views were so underdeveloped I couldn’t hang with them. Either way, Jon was the guy I wanted to be friends with but never had the chance

Jon, I am sure, is a super nice guy on a day to day basis. If I had met him on the street I would have loved to buy him lunch and talk about life. This would have certainly sealed my viewership, as it’s hard to dislike a guy you’re breaking bread with. It’s too bad t.v., politics, religion, and a host of other things get in the way of really knowing someone simply because you don’t agree with them 100% of the time.

So Jon, if I ever run into you on the street, lunch is on me.
