Welcome! If you’re new here and are not a subscriber, subscribe here and get the Youth Ministry Round Up in your inbox.

Happy New Year All,

What a year 2018 was. I turned 50, I saw U2 in concert for the first time, oh, and I retired from full time youth pastoring so I can spend more time speaking, training, and helping all of you become the best youth worker you can be.

I am optimistic about 2019. I launched a coaching service and you still have time to jump in for this inaugural run.

I created the My Youth Ministry Playbook to help you have the best year ever, because you planned on it. I am already working on 2020! In fact, I just had a statewide director of youth ministry order 30 to give away to youth pastors at a retreat.

Finally, I created a new website, just for my speaking/training and other endeavors. If I can speak at your retreat, camp or youth meeting let me know and I’ll see if the dates are available.

Don;t worry though, I’ll still be posting to this blog and creating new discipleship resources to put here, so stay tuned.

Thanks to all of you who have been on this journey with me. Here’s to a seeing many more kids come to Christ in 2019.

Quotes

One of the secondary things that the lower wages that churches are paying for youth workers is that it is forcing single people out of paid ministry. You almost have to be married to be able to afford to live in your church’s community. #youthmin – Jason Sansbury

The church does a terrible job with power and riches because it was never meant to be powerful and rich. Carlos A. Rodriguez

Five lies of identity:

1) I am what I have
2) I am what I do
3) I am what other people say or think of me
4) I am nothing more than my worst moment
5) I am nothing less than my best moment. – Henri Nouwen

Its assignment is humility and service. Kindness and welcoming. Gentleness and love.
