There are some things we can learn from this show
- Stop fighting everyone in your life who’s trying to help you.
- Admit you’ve made some mistakes.
- Ask for help.
- Listen to advice.
- Do something with the chance you have been given.
Jesus opened people’s eyes to hope
John 9:1-9
People born blind or became blind had little choice in their job careers, most became beggars.
Who sinned? Why is this happening to me.
The disciples asked this question because it was a popular myth that if your child was born blind it was because the parents has committed some serious sin.
That the works of God may be displayed in him
Of the six miracles connected with blindness which are recorded in the Gospels, this is the only case described as blindness from birth. In this lies it’s special characteristic, for “since the world began, was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind” (John 9:32).
This blind man did not beg to be healed as the other beggar did. Jesus healed him and gave him and his family hope and open the door of opportunity to him.
God can bring hope to any situation.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15: 13
Jesus healing this man was grace. This man did not ask for it or beg for it it was just given to him.
Ephesians 2:8-10
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.
Luke 7:11-15
Soon afterward he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him. As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.
Know God is Working Even When You Do Not See Him
2 Kings 6:15-17
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
Don’t focus on the enemy (but don’t ignore him either), focus on what God has done, is doing and will do.
Hope with patience
For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Romans 8:24,25
Hope in God’s word
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4
Hope In the Future
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
