Tuesday Night

QOTD: How Do You See Yourself?

Salad Questions If I asked your friends back home, how would they describe you? What’s the hardest part of following Jesus, for you? What vegetable can you not stand?

Skit: The Mirror

Most of the time, we are our own worst enemy.

We are the ones who doubt ourselves more than any other. Satan exploits our weaknesses, through our fallen nature, and has been doing it from the very beginning.

Genesis 3:1-4. “Did God really say that?

Satan had an I problem.

Isaiah 14:12-14

…How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O destroyer of nations. You said in your heart: “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of assembly, in the far reaches of the north. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”…

You may have an I problem in two ways

You think to little of yourself

I’m ugly. I’m stupid. I’m worthless. I’m no good. I’m not as good as so and so (comparison)

You think to much of yourself

I am my own boss. I run my own life. I don’t need anyone else. I will show them all. I don’t need God.

Mark 10:46-52 – Jesus heals Blind Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus

The man shouted – Have mercy on me!

Take pity on me

God has mercy on those who know they’re blind, know they’re in bad shape and want to see.

Proverbs 3:34 He has no use for conceited people, but shows favor to those who are humble (Good News Translation)

How do we know this? Jesus told a parable Luke 18:9-14

People told the blind man to shut up

People will say to you, “Don’t be who you want to be, be who we expect you to be. You’re a blind beggar, stay a blind beggar.”

Social Media is a mirror. It is a reflection of who we are or who we pretend to be.

What do you want me to do for you?

He loves to hear our needs spoken to him. Be specific with Jesus. It’s ok to be specific with Jesus. Sometimes what you pray for isn’t what you want.

Your faith has made you well

When you come to Jesus, come believing that he hear you and you will receive.

Mark 11:23:24

The Bible is a mirror

James 1:22-24

Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves. For anyone who hears the word but does not carry it out is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror, and after observing himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.…

“It is an absolute human certainty that no one can know his own beauty or perceive a sense of his own worth until it has been reflected back to him in the mirror of another loving, caring human being.” ― John Joseph Powell

Closing: Mirroring one another
