I’m feeling a bit Nostalgic after binging the Netflix series Stranger Days, and if that was the goal of the movie, mission accomplished. All the movie reference to other movies

and the list goes on, was just a stroll down memory lane for a kid who grew up in the 80’s
Yes, I was that kid who played Dungeons and Dragons with a tight group of guys who, now, have a history of great memories around a gaming table, swigging mountain dew and easting pizza at 2:00 a.m. There were no creepy paranormal encourager but that does not diminish the experience. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
The sound track to the show was also pretty sweet. The songs fluctuated between 1982 and 1984. Here’s the playlist.
The “good ol’ days” were not perfect. Like in the movie, I was bullied, insecure, and longed for meaning and purpose. Thesis what this generation, like every generations longs for. As a youth pastor I try to make church and youth group something they look back on favorably instead of dread. I want my students to look back fondly on camp. missions trips, silly games we did in youth group and, maybe not the messages, but that the messages were at least somewhat good and a guy who tried hard to communicate the love of God in interesting ways.
My biggest hope is that God is not part of their nostalgia but, 30 years from now plays a role in their present lives.
I can’t imagine what this generation will be nostalgic about or even if they will be nostalgic. I mean, they don’t really ride bikes, maybe it will be traveling through dead zone wi wifi areas , Snap Chat, or the time they did the Wobble t the school dance.
