God Responds To The Daily News, “I Already Fixed This”

Imagine God, in robe and slippers, opening the door to pick up the daily paper. He sits down upon his throne with a cup of coffee, slaps the paper open and sees the headlines God Isn’t Fixing This. God nods and reads, and after a few moments says, “I already fixed this.”  and puts the paper in the trash.

After the San Bernadino shooting the other day; the New York Daily News pushed back against the prayers offered by GOP candidates. The paper wanted more than prayers, they wanted people to take action. It’s hard to disagree with this as I believe we work hand in hand with God. It’s prayer and… not prayer alone.

The headline is certainly provocative and should stir us, as believers, to put action to our prayers. God frowns upon prayer alone and the habit of inaction.

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” James 4:17

“leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:24

“Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror ” James 1:23

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

God already fixed this. He wrote it all down. Published it and said, “Here, do this”. I know, sounds too simplistic right? But, if obedience is complicated then everything is complicated.

Gun control is complicated

Poverty is complicated

Racism is complicated.

Disobedience to God and His Word is what’s complicating everything.

Just because something is complicated doesn’t mean we should make prayer hands, be complacent and say “Oh well, it’s in God’s hands now.” A speech or a sermon doesn’t  fix anything, obedience fixes things.

This is not a government or any collective brain issue. Inaction happens one person at a time makes a decision to not act until it becomes a collective thought. The individual heart, not THE Government, THE Education System, THE Church is responsibility to make a decision. We can’t make change by committee. People make the decision to pray, read, and obey or just pray and read.

Let us pray and then do something, starting in our daily lives, and maybe, one day we’ll raise a generation who will follow our lead and eventually solve some serious problems in our world.

God has already fixed this; He’s just waiting on us.
