Welcome to Real Time Training.
Real Time Training are short (usually 30 min or less) sessions to inspire you, equip you, or nudge you to take the road less travelled.
I Currently have 3 Play Lists to choose from
Real Time Training: I have several trainings on subjects such as recruiting ideas, room design ideas, and discipleship. Each show is unique and I bet you walk away with a few new ideas every time you watch.
The Tuesday Panic- A show for those who are looking for a biblical context for movies, music, and news just in case plan A ( or no plan at all) is falling through.
Off The Shelf- Off The Shelf (real or digital) looks into new youth ministry resources, books, apps, that may help you grow yourself or your youth ministry. I also love to do interviews with authors and have a few posted for your viewing. If you are the author of a Christian book or Youth Ministry Resource, hit me up, and lets talk about it.
In this episode of Real Time Training I talk about my new Get Healthy resource we’re using to kick off the new year. Enjoy. And don’t forget to subscribe.

Hey Paul;
I am in a real battle!! I know God has called me to Lead our Youth Ministry. On paper…..this looks crazy!! I have a great job, I make $50k a year. I am a single mom with a 15 year old son. I have NO formal education in religious studies. I am…as I consider….a fairly new Christian, about 7yrs…..so I am still growing and learning; and last but not least….I am about to turn 50 years old!!
About 4 years ago….I started volunteering with our youth group. I LOVED it!!!!!!!! For the past year I have not been able to help out because of my work schedule.
About four months ago in my meditation/prayer time, God put it on my heart to be the Youth Leader for our Youth group. We have not had a Youth Pastor or a constant Youth Leader in about 6 years. I know, that I know, that I know, this is God’s will; because my plan for my future was continue to work at Ford until I was old enough to retire……which is not too far away. I know in order to do the job right and love on these kids the way they need; I know God wants me to quit my job. I really am not a NUT job!! I am not a RISK taker….I am a have to know ALL the details type of person. I like to play it safe!!
But, I love working with the youth, so what is my problem????
It is not the money…..it is the fact that I feel inadequate and dont know enough about Jesus to answer all their questions.
As a Youth Pastor…..have you EVER dealt with this???? When you were called into this ministry did you have fears??? I know the answers logically and biblically. God has been encouraging me through scripture and messages; and friends who dont even know what God has called me to do. Any advice??? Thanks for letting me VENT…LOL I know what a HUGE responsibility this is…..I dont want to let them down. I do realize I am MERELY the vessel for God to do what He needs to do. I know if their salvation was left up to ME and what I could do….I would fail them miserably. Just searching for an answer of WHY I cant take that step and go for it….I know its not about me, God will be doing the work.
Thank you for your time.
Looking forward to your response.

Hey Shelly,
Wow! This is exciting stuff. I’ll see if I can help you out.

>That’s awesome! Your lack of studies does not disqualify you, in fact it may make you more qualified. Sometimes all that schooling just gets in the way. Never let school get in the way of a good education.
You may want to check with your Pastor and see if they have any kind of courses available through your denomination or something if that would ease your mind. Otherwise, I would be happy to tutor you LOL.<
